DATS Programs

While it may be exciting to see your coworkers every day, traffic and parking might not be so pleasant. In this article, we will review some alternative transportation options supported by the Division of Amenities and Transportation Services (DATS) that can help avoid those pesky parking problems and reduce travel emissions. Alternative transportation options supported by DATS include biking, metro, carpool, and vanpool.

Biking

Best suited for employees who live close to campus or a public transportation system that services their campus, biking can be a great way to commute. The NIH has facilities to support bicyclers, including showers, lockers, bike rack stations and even bicycle repair kits in select areas. If you are a new rider,  or interested in riding, NIH Bicycle Commuting Club (BCC) has ride mentors who will help with route logistics and accompany riders. Learn more about NIH biking in the Spotlight article.

Carpool & Vanpool

DATS provides a free Carpool and Vanpool Matching Service through the NIH Rideshare Program, as well as a Guaranteed Ride Home Program in select locations. Be sure to check out the carpool and vanpool options available to you.

Metro

DATS facilitates the NIH Transhare Program for select campuses, shown below. Qualifying employees can get over $300 a month in metro fare subsidies. Metro stations service the following campuses:
