Get Ready for the Brood X Cicadas!

Time: April 22, 2021; 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Where: Click here to join the meeting

Description: This spring, we will witness a rare and amazing natural phenomenon as millions of cicadas known as "Brood X (Ten)" will dig out from the soil where they have been growing for the past 17 years. Scientists from Georgetown and George Washington Universities who are conducting research on the cicadas have collaborated with the GreenKids program of the Audubon Naturalist Society, an award-winning educational outreach partnership with local public-school systems in the DMV, to create educational materials for teachers and students at www.friendtocicadas.org. In this presentation from GreenKids Director, Diane Lill, you will learn what to expect from the upcoming emergence and how to participate in citizen science to help scientists better understand these awesome insects.
