Chemicals Approved for Drain Disposal

​Laboratory workers should consult the NIH Drain Discharge Guide before undertaking drain disposal of any laboratory chemicals. Only those chemicals that have been approved for drain disposal by the Division of Environmental Protection (DEP) may be disposed of down the drain. Surplus solid chemicals must be disposed of thr​ough the Chemical Waste Services and must not be discharged into the sanitary sewer.​

Approved chemicals can be found in Appendix B of the NIH Drain Discharge Guide.
